Christmas City Dortmund presents donation to Gast-Haus statt Bank e.V.
With great joy, a donation of 1,500 euros was presented today to the Dortmund-based initiative "Gast-Haus statt Bank eV ." The proceeds came from the sale of mulled wine and bratwurst during the ceremonial laying of the foundation stone for the world's largest Christmas tree.
Verena Winkelhaus and Günter Wendler from Christmas City Dortmund presented the donation to Kathrin Lauterborn, representative of the initiative. "Supporting non-profit organizations in Dortmund is a matter close to our hearts. Especially in this challenging year of 2024, we would like to make a contribution to supporting the important work of the Gast-Haus," said Winkelhaus.
Kathrin Lauterborn expressed her gratitude for the donation: "The year 2024 was particularly difficult for many homeless people. This support helps us continue to offer hot meals, shelter, and counseling. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts."
Gast-Haus statt Bank eV (Guest House Instead of Bank) has been supporting homeless and vulnerable people in Dortmund for years. The initiative not only provides warm meals and clothing, but also emotional support and a safe space for those often forgotten in our society.
The organizers of the Christmas Town emphasize how important it is to focus on those in need during the pre-Christmas season. "Our Christmas Town thrives on togetherness, and it makes sense to return this feeling to the community with events like these," said Günter Wendler.
Further information on the work of Gast-Haus statt Bank eV can be found on their website: www.gast-haus.org .
The Christmas City of Dortmund thanks all visitors who contributed to this donation by enjoying mulled wine and bratwurst!
