Dortmund Christmas tree 2024, illuminated

Christmas City Dortmund 2024: Successful conclusion of a magical season

With exceptionally high visitor numbers and a wealth of positive feedback, Dortmund, the Christmas City, is beginning its well-deserved winter break in 2024. Thanks to largely ideal weather conditions, numerous visitors flocked to the festively illuminated city center. The period from December 23rd and the days between Christmas and New Year were particularly popular for a relaxed stroll. The Christmas City once again proved to be a magnet for guests from near and far, who took advantage of the atmospheric ambience for a relaxed stroll, enjoyment, and wonder.

A tree that wins hearts

After an initial period of incomprehension, the world's largest Christmas tree quickly became one of the main attractions of the Christmas city. It became not only a popular photo and video subject, but also a symbol of Dortmund's unmistakable Christmas atmosphere. Whether as a meeting place, photo backdrop, or magical highlight – the tree captivated guests from all over the world.

Family program inspires young and old

The program, specially designed for children and families, was a resounding success. The free offerings, from "Salasa's Theater of Magic" to Woitschak's Punch and Judy Show to the popular scavenger hunt, brought families to the Christmas Town and allowed parents to discover familiar paths with fresh eyes. The overwhelming response demonstrates that the family program is an integral part of the Christmas Town and will be expanded further next year to create even more magical moments for all ages.

Popular meeting places and high-quality craftsmanship

In addition to the children's program, the high-quality gift and craft stalls remained as popular as ever. Visitors appreciated the variety and quality of the products, making the market an ideal place for special Christmas gifts. Mulled wine stands and the "Go Gärtchen" (small garden) featuring Hövels Christmas City Beer were once again central meeting points where visitors could enjoy the festive atmosphere in convivial company.

Light installations: A magical journey through time

The "Journey to Time" light installations along Kampstraße also garnered much praise. Cleverly focused along this axis, they were more prominent than ever before and became another popular photo motif, illuminating the Christmas city.

Thanks to everyone involved

Special thanks go to the sponsors, partners, and dedicated individuals who made Dortmund Christmas City possible again in 2024. A special thank you also goes to the City of Dortmund, the police and public order office, the fire department, and the emergency services – without their support, the smooth running of the event would not have been possible.

Outlook for 2025

After this successful year, the Christmas City of Dortmund is already looking forward to 2025. From November 20 to December 30, the Christmas City will open its doors again and delight its guests with tried-and-tested highlights as well as new surprises.

Until then, the magic of Dortmund, the city of Christmas, will remain alive in the hearts of all visitors. We thank you and look forward to seeing you again next year!
