The world's largest Christmas tree is visible from afar and marks the center of Hansaplatz. Vendors and food stalls are set up around it, and to the south, on the steps, stands the Christmas village and the theater tent.

The city's old main square is home to popular restaurants, which have created space in the center for snack bars, delicatessens, and trade stalls.
