On November 11th: Topping-out ceremony for the Christmas tree!
While other cities celebrate the start of the carnival season, we're celebrating the end of the four-week construction period for the world's largest Christmas tree. Next Friday, November 11th, at 1 p.m., we'll be placing the four-meter-tall golden trumpet angel atop Dortmund's Christmas landmark. Feel free to drop by! The address? Thanks to the 45-meter-tall tree, you can see it from afar as you enter the city: right in the middle of Hansaplatz in Dortmund.
Dortmund's Christmas Town begins on November 17th. After a day's break on Remembrance Sunday, we'll switch on the Christmas tree lights at 6 p.m. on November 21st. As in 2019, the Christmas tree consists of approximately 1,300 Sauerland spruces and, at 45 meters tall, is considered the world's tallest Christmas tree. Instead of being illuminated continuously as in previous years, the light from the approximately 45,000 LED bulbs will only shine from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. this time.
